A Marion, Ohio Legacy, Carried Forward
Shamrock Insurance began with a road trip, a love story, and a man who made Marion his home. Attorney Michael Sean Grimes was a New Jersey native whose life changed when a weekend road trip brought him to Marion and introduced him to Mary Anne Frericks. He fell in love, married her in 1982, and built a life rooted in family, law, public service, community involvement, and local relationships.

In 1987, Michael purchased McAndrew Insurance Agency, an independent agency that had served Marion since World War II. He renamed it Shamrock Insurance, carrying his Irish roots into a business he would lead for more than 30 years.

Today, his daughter Katie Grimes carries that legacy forward as Shamrock’s second-generation owner, continuing the same commitment to clear guidance, personal service, and protection that holds up when life tests the policy.

AGENCY PRINCIPAL AND OWNER
Katie Grimes is the agency principal and owner of Shamrock Insurance Agency in Marion, Ohio. A Marion native, Harding High School graduate, and University of Notre Dame alumna, Katie spent years in education as a high school teacher in Chicago and later as a tenured theology professor at Villanova University.

After returning home to Marion, Katie followed her father, Michael Grimes, into the insurance business. She managed both Shamrock Insurance and Herr Insurance Agency before purchasing both businesses and continuing Shamrock’s second-generation independent agency legacy.

Katie leads Shamrock with an educator’s approach: helping clients understand their risks, compare their options, and choose coverage with confidence before life puts a policy to the test.
